Obituary for John M. Stewart
John, age 70 of Littleton, Colorado.
Dear family and friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to let you know about the death of my husband, John. He died Thursday morning. He had a heart attach several years ago and had throat cancer. He complained of a stomach ache Thursday AM . I tried CPR and called 911 when he fell back on the bed and stopped breathing. The firemen and medical personnel worked over 45 minutes trying to revive him but were unable to.
There will be religious service on Friday, August 11. A viewing starts at 9:30 with a service at 10:30. Anyone wanting to say a few words is welcome. There will be a luncheon afterwards. The burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery at 2:00. John was a navy vet and will have military honors with a bag piper.
We are very proud of this quiet, strong man. He worked mainly behind the scenes. If he saw a neighbor on a ladder, he was over there holding it. He was always ready to help anyone, friend, family or stranger. He was always showing up at school to clean up my art room. Once when he was delivering the morning newspapers in the 90's and saw a garage on fire, he rescued a family with a disabled daughter. The TV stations called wanting to interview him but he didn't want to. He was just happy he could help. It wasn't the only time he saved a family and pets from house fires. He always just pitched in and helped. He was not a vocal man but a man of action. It was a running joke that his job was to keep me warm. I am always cold. So he was always getting me my slippers or a blanket. My job was to keep him fed. It was always "what can I fix you, honey?" He even saved a quote about how I said he would keep me around because he liked my pizza.
It has been hard to sleep. John was quite the snorer. Once we went on a ski weekend with several other couples. Boy, did we hear about them hearing John snoring all night. Boy, do I miss that noise. We have lost one of the good ones. So please add him and his family to your prayers tonight. Thank you.
