Obituary for Monica A. Swyers
Monica Ann Swyers, age 49, of Bailey, CO passed away on May, 22, 2018 at home after a battle with brain cancer surrounded by her family. Monica was born on July 25, 1968 in Philadelphia to Stinson and Carol Swyers. She was a graduate from Pennridge High School in 1986 in Perkasie and obtained her degree in Economics from the Rutgers University, NJ in 1990. She also received her Masters Degree in 2017 at Regis University in Business Administration/Marketing.
Monica was a Marketing Manager at Oracle Retail for the last several years. She spent her free time enjoying the outdoors in Colorado in many ways, including paddle boarding, hiking, soccer. She received her black belt in Kung Fu many years ago and transitioned that to kick boxing over the last several years.
Monica is survived by her husband David Minor and her son Dakota Giles. She is also survived by her parents, Stinson and Carol, of Ottsville, her younger siblings, her brother, Eric and his wife Melanie of Landenberg, PA; and her sister Lisa of Littleton, CO. Monica also adored her nephew Richard and niece Rachelle. Monica also was always caring for everyone around her, including her current rescue dogs Beanie, Bug and Nala.
A Celebration of Monica's Life will be held at the Chapel at Ellis Funeral Services, 13436 West Arbor Place Littleton, CO 80127 on Friday June 1, 2018 at 10:30 AM . This will be followed by a celebration of life at the Platte River Grill, 5995 South Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, 80120.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a few charities that are meaningful to us. Denver Hospice that were a godsend through this period with Monica, Dumb Friends League where her and Dave adopted several dogs or The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Duke Health who hopefully someday will find a cure for this horrible disease.
