Obituary for Nancy Turner Lee
Nancy Marie Turner Lee of Littleton was born on December 5, 1955 and passed away on June 4, 2017 after a courageous and determined battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob, and children Christine, Andrew (Lauren) and her beautiful granddaughter McKenna; Brothers, Jack (Mimi), Bob (Holly), Bill; Sisters, LouAnne Chamberlain (Scott) and Jeanne Newcomb (Flynt).
Nancy was the first of six children born to Margaret and Jack Turner. She spent much of her early childhood living in Littleton, Colorado and attending St. Mary School. From an early age, Nancy exhibited a true love and real talent for the arts. She won many awards for her beautiful oil and water color paintings.
In 1971, Nancy attended Arapahoe High school where, as a sophomore, she met the love of her life and future husband, Bob. School boundaries were redrawn and Nancy and Bob spent their junior and senior years at Heritage High School where they were part of the first graduating class in 1974. As a senior, Nancy was selected the school’s first Homecoming Queen.
Nancy graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1978, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. After college, Nancy moved back to Littleton where she and Bob were married in 1979. Nancy told Bob early in their marriage that she considered being a good mother her primary life’s mission. In 1981 she gave birth to her son Andrew Robert Lee. Two years later she was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Christine Elizabeth Lee. She spent the next 35 years of her life offering love and guidance to the children that meant more to her than life itself.
In 1987, Nancy earned her real estate license and became one of just a handful of women to work for Van Schaack & Co. She immediately became a top producer. In 1993 she joined RE/MAX Masters for a brief period before joining her husband, Bob, as a partner in the real estate firm of RE/MAX Classic. In 2004 she was recruited to join Colorado’s number one producing firm, Kentwood Real Estate. Nancy’s professionalism, kindness and dedication to her clients made her a top producer in her field for 30 years.
Over the years, Nancy produced scores of beautiful oil, water color and pastel paintings. She also found time to volunteer in the Littleton community which was so dear to her heart. Nancy served as a Trustee on the Littleton Adventist Hospital Community Board. She was Vice President of the Littleton Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees from 2003 – 2005 and served on the Porter Care Foundation Board of Trustees from 1993 – 2003. While serving on the Board, Nancy chaired their successful Heart of Hearts Gala for many years. In 2004, Nancy was appointed by Governor Bill Owens to the Board of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) which distributes funds to over 300 cultural organizations throughout the Metro Area.
In January of 2009, Nancy was blessed with the marriage of her son, Andy, to Lauren Gaffney. That same month she learned of her Stage III ovarian cancer diagnosis. Despite a poor prognosis and lesser odds of survival, Nancy was determined to live her life without regret and battle the disease with a quiet dignity; never complaining…and never giving up hope. Faith, determination and an infectious smile were always Nancy’s companions. Seven years into her journey, Nancy was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, McKenna Hope Lee. She adored McKenna and spent 19 months making sure that her granddaughter knew of her love. In the final weeks of life, Christine took leave from work to be constant companion at Nancy’s side, providing skilled care and much needed love and laughter. It was during this time that Nancy knew for certain that her mission to be a good mother had been fulfilled.
Nancy’s faith never wavered during her difficult journey. She was a devout Catholic who found strength as a servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Nancy would want to thank those who worked so hard to extend her time with her family. Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Davis and the wonderful caregivers on his staff…Karen, Nancy, Jodi & Wendy.
