Obituary for Travis Michael King - Marzano
Travis, age 19 of Arvada.

Travis Michael King-Marzano of Arvada, who had coped with and fought a seizure disorder for much of his young life, passed away February 18.

He was 19.

He left behind many who loved him, most notably his mother, Trisha Marzano – and he loved back. He also was survived by his grandfather, Joe Marzano; his grandmother, Joann King; plus many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Travis had affectionate nicknames for virtually everyone who crossed his path – whether they were those or other family members or friends, or maybe even someone he met 10 minutes earlier.

If you needed a hug, you got one from Travis. Or even if you didn’t need a hug at that moment, you got one from Travis. He expected you to remember it later, when you did need one.

He wasn’t quiet as much as he would pick his spots to be outgoing.

He had a terrific ability to listen.

His sly smile was contagious. A graduate of Arvada High School, where he was known and honored after his death as “Big Dog,” Travis overcame obstacles to letter in academics and several sports, including basketball and tennis. In summer baseball, he was spotted with a hot dog in his back pocket in the outfield and enjoyed himself. He loved to go to Dairy Queen for lunch and eat and talk with his friends in the parking lot.

He helped out with various duties at the Sons of Italy Hall, whether at meetings or functions or before and after. One memorable instance was when he donned a chef’s hat and emulated the stars of the Food Channel, and another was when he helped make the Lodge’s version of In-N-Out Burgers for a car show, and ate six of them over the course of the day.

He and a group if friends often played disc golf. On that Sunday morning, his friend Michael, who walked the “course” with Travis, called and left a message, telling Travis he was late and asking where he was.

He was in a better place.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS:
With Trisha being allergic to flowers, the family would prefer a memorial donation made to Trisha J. Marzano and mailed to her attention in care of Sons of Italy Lodge, 5925 W 32nd Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80212.
