Shirley S. Walker

Walker, Shirley Schaffer, was born February 27, 1930 in Norfolk, Nebraska. She passed away on May 21, 2012 in Littleton, Colorado. She is survived by her three daughters Ann Walker (Gene Campion) of Danville, CA; Julie Walker (Bud Lauderbach) of Brighton, MI and Tracey Walker (Greg Brown) of Centennial, CO. Her four grandchildren are Daniel Lauderbach of Chicago, IL; Andrew Campion of Danville, CA and William and Elizabeth Brown of Centennial, CO. She also leaves behind 3 siblings, Patricia Cook of O誰eill, NE; Larry Schaffer (Lois) of O誰eill, NE and Elizabeth Young of Sidney, NE, in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Shirley was raised on a ranch 20 miles southwest of O'Neill, beginning school in a one room school house. She moved into town to attend O誰eill High School and attended the University of Nebraska where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. In 1950, Shirley earned a degree in English from the University of Nebraska. The next 30 years Shirley spent raising her family in various cities in the Midwest, settling in Fort Collins, CO in 1968. She returned to O誰eill in 1980 and became active in the O誰eill Presbyterian Church. In order to be closer to her children, she returned to Colorado in 2003.

Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and sister. She made many dear friends throughout her life. Shirley will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and sense of humor. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

10:30 am on Saturday, May 26, 2012 The service for Shirley will be Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the O誰eill Presbyterian Church with a viewing at the church beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the O誰eill Cemetery.
