Obituary for Alan Charles Ambler
Alan Charles Ambler passed away peacefully in the care of his loving wife, Beverly, on January 21, 2018 in Centennial, Colorado. Al was born, December 7, 1931 in Los Angeles, California to Samuel C. and Elsabeth L. Ambler.
Al graduated from Stanford University with an MS degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1954 and joined the US Navy as an officer from 1954 to 1957. Al married Judy Pollock in 1954 in Pomona, Ca. and was married to her for 34 years until her death on November 1, 1988. Al and Judy had 34 wonderful years of marriage and had three children: Craig, David, and Kathryn.
Al started his business career with Signal Oil and Gas Co in July, 1957 and was eventually transferred to Midland Texas. While with Signal Oil and Gas Co Al advanced from Petroleum Engineer to Division Manager in 1970 responsible for all exploration and production activities in the mid-continent, Rocky Mountains and in neighboring western states. Al moved to New Orleans in 1972 to become Vice President and General Manager of Signal Oil of Louisiana and after one year moved to Denver to become VP of Pasco, Inc. By 1976 Al decided to venture out on his own, buying out three other companies and then merged with Consolidated Petroleum Industries. Al was president of Tierra Petroleum Corp. in charge of the gas and oil exploration within this company. Al worked as a private consultant while serving as VP of Production in a number of Oil and Gas companies. Before retiring, Al was Vice President of Ensign Oil and Gas In Denver.
In 1989, Al met Beverly Blackstone, and they were married in 1990 and were blessed with over 27 loving years, traveling and enjoying their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren while still making time for many charitable organizations within their church and general community often preparing hot lunches for abused children at The Kempe Center for over 15 years. In December 2003, Al retired to devote time to travel and enjoying time with his wife, Beverly.
Al is survived by his wife, Beverly, his children: Craig Ambler (wife Lisa), David Ambler (husband C.J. Kerls) and Kathryn "Kay" Riley (husband Dan) and Beverly’s children Sarah Harrison (husband Pat) and Amy Blackstone. Al is also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Trent (Jen), Cole (Tina), Paige (James), Connor, Tyler, Lauren, Haley (John), Winston and Chelsea and 8 great grandchildren: Trae, Kaleigh, Elliana, Samara, Josiah, Lucas, Preston and Camille.
A celebration of life is scheduled on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Cherry Hills Community Church, Dixon Chapel, 3900 Grace Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.
