Obituary for Aldrich Norbert Mergl
Aldrich Norbert Mergl, 88, passed away peacefully in Centennial, CO on June 12, 2016.

He had been challenged with Alzheimer's disease which he had been receiving care for at his assisted living center. Al was born on June 6, 1928, in Brainard, NE, to Josephine (Kantor) and Alois Mergl. He left high school to travel the world through service to the United States Merchant Marines during WWII.

He married Betty Sedlaczek on Feb. 9, 1951. Al made a career driving truck for sand and gravel companies first in Tacoma, WA, and then Colorado Springs, CO, and Denver, CO. He raised his six children with Betty in Deer Trail, CO, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Al's favorite food was dessert and jolly ranchers candy. He never met a crossword puzzle he couldn't solve and was an avid watcher of Wheel of Fortune. He will be remembered for his constant sense of humor and proud sense of Czechoslovakian heritage.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty and son Allan, sisters Jean and Marcella, and brothers Joe and Louie. He is survived by his sisters Marie Witzel and Marge Novotny, and children, daughters Christine Donovan (Dennis) and Meredith Mergl Lopez (Temple), and sons Ken (Kathy), Gerald (Linda), Brian (Tim), & 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

His family would like to thank Peak View Assisted Living in Centennial, CO, for their end of life care. Memorial services, which will also include Al's wife, are open to friends and family.
