Obituary for Bengt Oskar August Jansson
Bengt Oskar August Jansson was born October 17, 1930, to August Ansgarius and Edith Vihelmina, (Walline) Jansson in Kalvsnas, Sweden and lived his youth and early school years nearby. He completed the 8th grade and then began to work on a farm. He spent his free time racing motorcycles, playing ice hockey, fishing, and cross-country skiing while he was in Sweden.
Bengt met the love of his life on January 3rd,1964, in New Jersey on a blind date and it was love at first sight. They were married one year later January 3rd,1965.
Bengt’s career spanned 41 years as a Mining Engineer/Rock Tool Expert with Sandvik Coromant. Sandvik moved Bengt from Sweden to Canada in 1960. They then transferred him to New Jersey in 1964, then California and finally to Lakewood, Colorado where he retired. He worked on the Washington Bridge in New York City, Eisenhower Tunnel, Roberts Tunnel, Leadville helping with uranium mining and many more places that are unknown to the family.
Bengt made an agreement with Sandvik, his lifetime employer, that the company would fly him and his family back to Sweden every other year so the family would have the opportunity to know each other. This agreement also included Germany so Helga and Family could see their relatives too.
Both Bengt and Helga devoted their time to their family, friends, and coaching Soccer. Bengt enjoyed most of his life outdoors continuing to spend time hunting, fishing, camping, and cross-country skiing here in the USA as well.
Some of our fondness memories was Dad ringing the cow bell for cocktail hour for the neighbors to come join them. Bengt enjoyed taking saunas as they had one at home. One time he decided to sit in the sauna and walk across the street to his friends' home and jump in the swimming pool full of snow on the ground. This is a tradition is Sweden.
Surviving Bengt are his wife, Helga, 2 children, Erik (Allison) Jansson of Bailey, Colorado, and Tanja (Chad) Freeman of Sedalia, Colorado; his three grandchildren Lily Freeman of Sedalia, Colorado, Dawson Jansson of Bailey, Colorado and Mason Freeman of Sedalia, Colorado; 1 Nephew, 1 Niece, and multiple cousins.
