Obituary for Benjamin H. Stauffer
Stauffer, Benjamin H., age 62, of Golden, passed away peacefully in his sleep February 28, 2014. Benjamin was born February 2, 1952 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Oliver and Leona Stauffer. He was a graduate of Rocky Ford High School and attended Otero Jr. College. Ben started working in the family business in Rocky Ford at a young age and continued working there until it closed in 1972. After working for a while at Rhoades Food Center he moved to the Denver area and worked for Albertsons for 32 years, retiring in 2011. At the time of his death he was working part-time for Advantage Sales and Marketing. Ben was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Rocky Ford, then after moving to Littleton, Colorado he became a member of the South Suburban Christian Church. Ben never married. Baseball, family, friends and church was very much a part of his life. He is survived by his mother, Leona Stauffer, of Golden, Colorado; brothers, Ronald (Alison) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Gary (Ana Maria) of Portland, Oregon; nephew, Jacob (Samantha) Stauffer of New York; niece, Elizabeth (Nick) Anderson of Portland, Oregon; aunts and uncles, Leora (John) Hemphill of Richland, Washington, Lucille Lance of Pueblo, Colorado, Jerry Sitton of Rocky Ford, Colorado and Becky Morrison of Salina, Kansas; plus numerous cousins. Ben was preceded in death by his beloved dad, Oliver Stauffer, in 2005 and grandparents Ben and Amy Stauffer and Hugh and Elsie Reid, all of Rocky Ford, Colorado.
