Obituary for Cheryl P. Hurlbut
Hurlbut, Cheryl 'Cheri' Peterson, age 59 of Denver. Cheri passed away on July 18, 2014 at the age of 59 in Denver, CO. She was born in Portland, Oregon on August 25, 1954 and raised in Boise, Idaho. Cheri attended Boise State University, the University of Nebraska Lincoln and the Denver Paralegal Institute. She enjoyed a career at the Denver law firm of Gorsuch Kirgis as a paralegal until she became the Practice Administrator for the family’s business, Accent Optics, with her husband Dr. Rick Hurlbut, while also being a busy, energetic, loving mom for beloved daughters Haleigh and Hannah. Cheri was the best kind of friend due to her knack for listening and laughing, the most beautiful wife because of her selfless love and tenacity, and a fearless and wonderful mother to her two daughters. The accident that caused her passing came as a surprise to all, but despite the huge obstacles she faced she fought to stay with those who love her on earth; yet God had a greater plan for her and brought her into his paradise. Preceded in death by her father Lester Peterson and brother-in-law Dan Hurlbut, Cheri is survived by her husband, Rick Hurlbut; daughters, Haleigh and Hannah Hurlbut; mother, Marjorie Peterson; brother, Ron (Joann) Peterson; in-laws, Fred and Jean Hurlbut; brothers-in-law, Greg (Sheri) and Pat (Jill) Hurlbut; sisters-in-law, Jane (Doug) Berning and Wendy Hurlbut as well as many nieces and nephews. Though she will be missed every day by her family and friends, the presence and memories left in each of our hearts gives Cheri the eternal life she deserves. We all have a special piece of her life to carry with us now and she will continue to inspire all of us with her loving spirit. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 2375 East Arizona Avenue, Denver on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 3:00 PM., with a reception following the Mass.
