Obituary for Daniel Jamie Jo Perea
Daniel Jamie Jo Perea was born September 17, 1958 at 1:13 pm and he died August 11, 2021 after months of struggling with complications of COVID.
As he was known by most, Danny was born in Denver, the youngest child of Gilbert and Bernice (Garcia) Perea and grew up with his sister Linda (Dindas)(Torrez) and brothers Alphonso (Dindos), Stephen, and Gilbert Jr. (Thasher). Later in life, Daniel met another sister, Rosemary. His extended family included aunts and uncles and cousins galore that Daniel grew very close to. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Isabel, his cousin Richmond, and most of his aunts and uncles. Daniel married Eva Gutierrez and they had two beautiful daughters, Crystal Leigh Perea and Candace Kristen (Perea) Matousek. Later, Daniel had a son, Joshua Jonathan Rivera with Christine Rivera. Soon after, Daniel married Michelle Bahl and they shared 31 years together before their time was ended by his untimely death.
Daniel was blessed with six grandchildren: Montego Matousek, Audrianna Sandoval, Aiyana Matousek, Nestor Gabriel III, Uriah Matousek, and Lorenzo Gabriel. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, although he always wished there was more time to be with them.
After attending West High School, Daniel worked at factory jobs and at King Soopers. Learning how to set tile and install flooring, Daniel worked hard to earn a living in the construction trade until he became disabled. Daniel was very inventive and had a talent for working with his hands and the patience for producing meticulous results. Through Volunteers of America, Daniel participated in Meals on Wheels and built lasting relationships with the clients he served. He would go beyond the call of duty and mow lawns, help with household chores, or whatever the client needed. Above all, Daniel wanted to put a smile on their face.
If you ever met Daniel, you would know he loved his dogs. First Valentino and then Pretty Boy and Waggums, Daniel treated them well and they returned the love. Most recently with Eddie and Jingo, his daily walks in the park kept Daniel going. He used the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, a reminder that a seemingly simple exchange can have a lasting impact on the lives of those we encounter.
