Obituary for Daniel Paul Jensen
Daniel Paul Jensen was born to Donald Arthur and Betty Prentice Jensen in Burbank, California on May 19, 1958. They lived in Glendora, CA until Daniel was in 6th grade when they moved to Beaverton, OR.
Dan graduated from Aloha High School in 1976 and then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology from Judson Baptist College and Oregon State University.
Dan met his wife, Kathy Leonard Jensen, of 34 years, at Tadmor Christian Camp in 1983. They were wed in 1985 and moved from Oregon to Boise, Idaho for Dan’s Job in 1986. While in Idaho their firstborn, Andrew Daniel Jensen, was born in 1987.
In November of 1987 Dan’s job transferred the Jensen’s to Littleton, Colorado. Dan worked primarily in sales throughout his career, initially in information sales and then in telecommunications.
While in Littleton, Dan and Kathy had two more sons. Michael Christian Jensen, born December 7, 1989 and Adam Thomas Jensen, born April 28, 1995.
Dan and his family enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing, and snowshoeing in the grand mountains in and around the state of Colorado. In his free time Dan enjoyed playing softball, coaching his sons in soccer, and spending time with his three boys and with Kathy.
Dan and Kathy faithfully served the Lord throughout their marriage by serving in Youth Ministry, serving the church on the Deacon Board, leading small groups, serving on the worship team, and in many other facets of church service.
Dan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in May of 2018. Dan had a stem cell transplant in September 2018 to attempt to cure the Leukemia. With God’s help Dan successfully beat Leukemia and began the hard battle of regaining his strength after his fight with cancer. Amidst the recovery, in May of 2019, Dan was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus which had metastasized to his liver and his back. After pursuing several types of treatment options, the doctors were saddened to tell Dan and his family that the treatments were not working.
Although the journey was often dark, Dan knew that he was not forsaken, as he knew that his Savior was always by his side. For a year and a half Dan labored on in weakness of flesh, but with hope in spirit, for he was assured that through Christ he would overcome. With every breath until his last Dan longed to follow Jesus with every ounce of strength. On the morning of November 21, 2019 Dan passed away with his family by his side in their home in Littleton Colorado, and on that morning, Dan completed the race, he finished the course, his eyes were opened to a new Glory as his Savior ran to him and embraced him in his arms saying “you don’t have to fight anymore, well done my good and faithful servant”.
