Obituary for Darrell Francis Nickerson
Darrell F. Nickerson died on October 22, 2018 at the age of 74 at his home in Centennial, Colorado after a long illness. Darrell was born at his parent’s home in North Denver on August 22,1944. His parents were Keith F. Nickerson and Luella F. Nickerson (Ayres). Darrell grew up with two brothers, Kenneth and Wilbur, and one sister, Alyce. Another brother, Keith Jr., died as an infant.
Darrell was greatly loved by everyone who knew him. You would rarely see Darrell without a smile on his face. His good nature endeared him to family and friends. His first love was his family but he also cherished old friends.
Darrell graduated from Sheridan High and proudly served in the Navy. He served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970 on the USS Cusk submarine as Interior Communications 2nd class during the Vietnam War. During his civilian career Darrell worked in Littleton for Mountain Bell and AT&T. He retired from AT&T after 35 years in building management.
In his spare time Darrell loved spending time with family. He was a master gardener and he liked to cook. He played baseball in his youth and his love of baseball resulted in him being a loyal Rockies fan. He was also a big Broncos fan. Darrell enjoyed going to casinos and he was interested in politics. Christmas was always a huge holiday for him.. baking lots of goodies and hot dip for his parties.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Tami Nickerson. He is survived by his wife Brooke-Lea Nickerson, daughter Rhonda Tonkinson (Russ), son Darren Nickerson (Tanya), brother Kenneth Nickerson (Phyllis), sister Alyce Marsh (Lemeul), granddaughters Kayla Nickerson, Alexis Radcliff (Anthony), grandson Keith Nickerson, and granddaughter Diana Nickerson. 2 great grandkids Lilly and Valen. Also step daughter Rhonda Welle (Rick), Landon Snider (Sandra), Damon Snider (Debra) with 5 step grandkids and 9 great grandkids.
