Obituary for David Dawson Husted
David Dawson Husted was born March 17, 1968 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa, where his father was studying for a Doctorate in Biochemistry at Iowa State University. Dick and Jean Husted lived in married student housing with their 2-year-old son Bob and their new baby. David was baptized into the Christian faith at the Presbyterian Church. After Dave’s dad graduated, the family moved to Denver where Dick had a job with Martin Marietta. From age 2-7, the family lived in this suburban Littleton neighborhood on Ingalls Street. (Dave learned to ride his bike in the St. Philip Lutheran Church parking lot.)

In 1975 when Dave was seven years old, the family moved to Minburn, Iowa to work in a family hog-raising operation west of Des Moines. By then there were three little boys—Bob, Dave and Jim, plus a baby sister, Beth. Not everyone in the family enjoyed those five years of rural Iowa living, but Dave loved it. When he was eleven years old they all moved back to Littleton to a new home in Ken Caryl Ranch, where his parents still live.

Dave attended Normandy Elementary, Deer Creek Middle School and Columbine High School where he lettered in tennis and was a member of the Class of 1986. During high school, Dave worked as a courtesy clerk and then checker at Albertson’s where he won a prize for the “fastest grocery bagger.” At Kansas State University he majored in Industrial Engineering and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduation in 1990 he went to work for Boeing Company in Wichita and earned an MBA from Webster University there.

Dave’s career also included working for Point B Consulting in Seattle and Denver, and with SCL Health (Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth) in Denver where he was a Vice President of the EPMO (Enterprise Program Management Office) .

Dave Husted married Roxanne Filby and they had one son, Evan, in 1996. On December 29, 1999, he married Anne Isernhagen of Longmont, Colorado. They have two children, Benjamin James, 18, and Abigail Anne, 15.

Dave enjoyed tennis, racquetball, mountain biking, off-roading, working on cars and playing the banjo in the church bluegrass band with his wife and children. He served as president of church council at St. Philip Lutheran and was head of the Strategic Planning committee. He also served for three years on the Ken Caryl HOA board. He and Anne loved to entertain in their home and travel abroad with the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars which Ben and Abby both played in. He was an outstanding grill-master and gourmet cook. He was a capable, detailed leader with great communication skills in front of a group. He was a fixer, builder, re-modeler and computer expert.

David Husted is survived by his wife, Anne, and his children, Evan, Ben and Abby as well as his parents and brothers Bob (and Leslie) Husted of Loveland, Colorado and their children Emily, Kate and Cole; Jim (and Jennifer) Husted of Littleton and children Will, Sam, Grace and Sophie; and sister Beth (and Scott) McGinn of Sedgwick, Kansas and children Dillon, Drew and Cole. He is also survived by Anne’s brother, Jonathan (and Jennifer) Isernhagen of Waldwick, New Jersey and children Thomas and Allison as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dave was recovering from heart valve replacement surgery and looking forward to returning to work part time at SCL on Monday, November 18. He died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, November 13, 2019 doing what he loved—walking his Irish setter, Sadie, on the greenbelt near the Ken-Caryl Ranch House where his beloved wife, Anne was working.

Dave Husted leaves a wide circle of church, neighborhood, and work friends to mourn his loss and comfort his family. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who daily lived his faith in Jesus Christ, his Savior and Lord.
