Obituary for David Guy Lemons
My dad was born in Belmont Nebraska on September 6, 1926 to Florence and Guy Lemons. He was the youngest of seven siblings.

He grew up in Nebraska and served in the United States Army during WWII. He then went to college at Colorado A & M, known as the “Aggies” at the time, and graduated with a degree in zoology. He went on to work for the Colorado Division of Wildlife for 32 years.

He met my mother Nadine Irene Shaffer in Delta Colorado and they married on February 28, 1959. I was born about one year later. Growing up on the western slope of Colorado we spent many a summer weekends fishing and picnicking on Grand Mesa with my grandparents, aunt, and cousins.

After my parents retired they purchased an RV and enjoyed traveling around the country with an RV club. They would call me to say they were “going camping.”

My mom, Nadine Lemons, preceded him in death in March 2006.

I plan to have a Celebration of Life for both of them on Grand Mesa this coming spring.

This is my dad’s obituary, and also a love letter to my parents.

Mom, Dad…thank you for the very blessed childhood and life you gave me. I love you both with all my heart.

Rest in peace until I see you again.
