Obituary for Dian Ball Clawson
Clawson, Dian Ball, age 75 of Centennial. Dian, wife, mother, and friend, died peacefully on April 18, 2014 at 75 years of age. Dian is known for her total and complete love and care for any person that she came in contact with, even in her final days. Her words were always wrapped in love. She was born in Provo, Utah on March 09, 1939, the oldest of four children of Wilburn Nephi Ball and Darlene Owens. Her childhood years were spent in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Dian remembers as a young girl playing hopscotch, jacks, jump the rope, and sliding down the three-story fire escape at the elementary school. The family later moved to Salt Lake City Utah where she graduated from East High School in 1956. Dian married the love of her life, Alden Ernest Clawson on March 21, 1959. They spent 55 wonderful years together. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Utah in 1960 with a bachelors degree in Education and Office Administration. During her years at the ‘U’, she worked part time for the Dean of the Engineering Department and was an accomplished typist. Dian was blessed with three sons, Jeffrey, Stephen, and Bradley. The family moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1963, and she and Alden have lived in their Cherry Knolls home since 1965. She was an accomplished seamstress, including designing and making her own wedding dress, and many other items for her family including clothing for her children and grandchildren. Dian and her family loved outdoor activities and she was an enthusiastic tennis player, skier, and biker. Dian was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was sealed to her husband and children in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple. Much of her life was devoted to her faith and service to others through her many church callings including Ward Relief Society President. She was a secretary to the leadership that brought the LDS Temple to Denver, and was an ordinance worker from its opening in October, 1986 through March, 2014. She and her husband also served as a senior missionary couple for the Denver South Mission. Dian was also very involved in genealogy and committed her time to researching and documenting her family history. Dian loved music, was an accomplished pianist, and even in her failing health continued to play the piano every day. She was a charter member of the Colorado Mormon Chorale. She also loved art and spent many years as a volunteer for the Denver Art Museum. She traveled with her husband to many countries to learn of their art and culture. Dian will be missed dearly and will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who came to know her. She always remained focused on being prepared to be with her Heavenly Father. Her family rejoices in the knowledge that she is reunited with her mother and father and that we will also be reunited. Dian was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, Alden Ernest Clawson; her siblings Robert Ball, Alan Ball, and Leslie Miller; her children, Jeffrey Ernest Clawson, Stephen Alden Clawson, Bradley Nephi Clawson; and grandchildren Amanda Crowe, Scott Clawson, Kristi Morrow, Chad Korsgard, Corbin Korsgard, Austin Mickle, Ryan Mickle, Alexandra Clawson, Soren Clawson, Maren Clawson, and Kaitlyn Clawson, and great granddaughter Emily Crowe.
