Obituary for Evelyn June Mosier
Mosier, Evelyn June Popelka, of Centennial, Colorado, was born June 9, 1934. She passed away on November 1, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Dwight Justin. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband and eternal companion Dwight, her three surviving children, Joyce, Charlotte and Darren, her five grandchildren, Brian, Michelle, Jason, Hannah, and Vivian, and her great- grandchildren, Riley and Caleb. Evelyn was born and raised on a farm in Munden, Kansas. She was the only child of Charlie and Elsie Popelka. She graduated from Munden High School in 1952. Evelyn was married in 1956 and moved to Colorado in 1959. She has called the Denver area home ever since. Evelyn loved her family and always made sure their needs came before hers. She loved being a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking (her kolaches were the best), sewing, and making cards (and really, doing anything crafty). She was a member of the American Sewing Guild. She donated many hours in making preemie clothes and baby caps for neonatal units. She never tired of viewing the fall colors in the Colorado mountains. One of her favorite places was Echo Lake. She liked to travel, especially if it was to see one of her children or grandchildren. She enjoyed games of all kinds, but was exceptional at Scrabble and Boggle. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1958. She donated many hours in the service of others. Evelyn lived a long and loving life. She was, and still is, an example of selfless service to others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
