Floyd H. Wines of Westminster, Colorado, passed away at his wife’s side on May, 5, 2018.
Floyd was born in Santa Maria, California on August 3, 1928. His family moved to Oakdale, California where he graduated from Oakdale High School. His father was the Dean of Boys, which tended to stifle his mischievous sense of humor (one of his most endearing qualities).
Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as Corporal from October 10, 1946 through March 22, 1948 and served in the National Guard through May 16, 1952. He later attended Golden Gate College in San Francisco and furthered his business training at University of Southern California. He worked for Santa Fe Railway, starting in the mailroom and retiring nearly 40 years later as an executive in Marketing.
Floyd was a lifelong outdoorsman with a great love for fishing, hunting and remote places. His greatest love, however, was for his wife Lucy, and their daughters; Allison (husband Steve Cass), Jill Holly (husband Tink O’Leary), his brother Robert Wines and sister Marianna Conner, and his five beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Patrick, Kevin and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his adored daughter Kristi. They will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
