Obituary for Frances Lynne Hancock
Fran Hancock, born Frances Lynne Wheeler on October 12, 1941 in San Diego, California passed away January 22, 2022 from respiratory failure resulting from a battle with Covid.
She grew up in El Cajon, CA surrounded by a loving extended family. She and her ex-husband Larry began their family in El Cajon and eventually moved to Escondido where all three boys, Bill, Steve, and Chris graduated from San Pasqual High School. The boys were all heavily involved in sports, which worked well because Fran loved sports. Whether it was her kids, grandkids, Padres or Chargers, and eventually the Rockies and the Broncos, her favorite thing was cheering on her teams. Fran had a successful career starting out in banking and finance, escrow, and then a business analyst specializing in banking software. She was highly thought of for her positivity and ability to solve problems.
She moved to Denver in 2006 where she spent her retirement sharing life with the Colorado Hancock's (Bill & family), enjoying her beautiful backyard with all its hummingbirds and caring for her beloved dog Roxy. She was extremely proud of her family and everything they have accomplished.
Fran is survived by her sons and their families: Bill (Karen, Bryan, Cam, & Shannon); Steve (Sheri, Scott, Sabrina, Staci); Chris (Catina, Davis, Holland); her siblings Roy Wheeler, Frank Wheeler, Guy Fears, Erin Fears, and Chuck Fears; and many nephews and nieces.
A small family service will occur on Friday, January 28th, at 10:30 am (mountain time) at he chapel at Ellis Family Services. The service will be streamed for those wishing to attend virtually (see Zoom information below). The family will host a larger celebration of life this summer.
