Obituary for Frances Marie Maiorana

Maiorana, Marie, of Parker, Colorado was born on May 19, 1943 in Dayton Ohio. She passed away on November 22, 2013. Marie is survived by her loving husband, Paul Maiorana and her son Jason Gardner, his wife Robyn, and her two granddaughters, Jordyn Elise and Madilynn Grace. Marie was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1943. She grew up in Ohio, graduating from Monroe High School in 1961. Marie then moved west to Colorado in the 1960s and later to Arizona in the 1980s. She then returned to live in Parker, CO in 1995 with her Husband Paul. Marie loved the west, especially spending her time in the outdoors taking pictures and painting. In 1983, Marie met and fell in love with her husband Paul while working at the Grand Canyon, where she was the Manager of Data Processing for Fred Harvey. Marie and Paul moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 1985, where Marie was involved with the Grand Canyon Pioneer Society. Marie helped to write the Pioneer Society Cookbook, and she wrote and published the Grand Canyon Pioneer Society Newsletter until 1995, when she and Paul moved to Parker, CO. Marie spent much of her time in the outdoors photographing landscapes, wildlife and flora. Marie also worked for the Douglas County Library, working at the Parker, Kiowa, and Elizabeth Library locations. Marie was also an accomplished artist and photographer. She attended Metro State University of Denver, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Fine Arts with her studies focused on digital media. Marie used her studies to learn a number of new art mediums, including watercolor, colored pencil, oil, pastels, and numerous forms of digital media. Marie’s art really blossomed during this period. Marie had a passion for all things art related, and was a member of the Parker Artist Guild and later a very active member of the Paint Box Guild of Littleton. She truly enjoyed working with her many friends in the Paint Box Guild, where she served as the President, Webmaster, and an Historian. Marie’s art was often featured in juried art shows, where she won a number of ribbons for her artwork. Marie also sold her paintings and photography at the local Parker Art in the Park. She loved to teach her daughter-in-law and granddaughters about art and paint with them. During this time Marie also began working on a novel. Marie was a very kind, generous and loving soul. She walked out these qualities throughout her life with all whom she came into contact with. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
