Obituary for Francis Duane Unruh
Francis Duane Unruh, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Parker, Colorado on January 17, 2018. Duane was born in Meno, Oklahoma to parents Harry T. and Anna M. Unruh and raised on a farm with his younger sister Joan in Meno, Oklahoma.
He graduated from Ringwood High school in Ringwood, OK and went on to graduate from Phillips University in Enid, OK. After college, he married his sweetheart, Lynette Shuman. He and Lynette settled in Denver where he worked at a bank for a short time before he entered the Army in El Paso, TX. After his discharge he began his career with Continental Oil Company. During his career he held many different positions which took him and his family to several states and abroad. Duane earned his MBA from Stanford University.
He and Lynette retired to Evergreen Colorado before settling in Parker, Colorado. They enjoyed traveling and family gatherings with homemade ice cream. He cherished his five grandchildren. Duane was a man of great faith and had a generous spirit. He was active at his church and enjoyed building model cars out of scrap. Duane was a courageous breast cancer survivor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lynette, his four children; Cindy Knight, Diane Wilson, David Unruh and Karen Wallis, and their spouses, grandchildren; Alyssa Knight, Molly Knight, Zach Kalevik, Clayton Unruh and Haley Unruh. He is also survived by his sister Joan Martindale of Paris Texas and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Francis Duane Unruh on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Services will be held at South Broadway Christian Church, 23 Lincoln Street Denver, Colorado.
