After his military service he continued to work on airplanes until his retirement. After retiring he used his skills to repair clocks and create exquisite models of cannons.

Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth Francis (nee Smith) married on January 10, 1959. She was the light of his life. Also his two sons Kevin and Shawn, Kevin's wife Robin and their children, Kelinda, Andrew, and Ian, Shawn's wife Violi and her children Jennifer and Ashley.
