Obituary for Gaylene JoAnn Platt
Gaylene JoAnn Platt was born west of Fairfield, NE (Clay County), February 10, 1939, to William and Rhoda (Gross) Garrelts. She spent her youth as a farm kid, and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1956. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, NE. She attended Hastings College for two years, before moving to Denver, CO. She met John Platt from Ft. Pierce, FL while he was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver. They married in 1959, and continued to live and work in Denver.
Gaylene was a stay at home Mom for many years, attended secretarial school, and worked in commercial real estate and for a title company. She loved sports and was a fan of the Avalanche, Broncos, Rockies, Nebraska football, and even the Colorado Buffaloes. She also loved gardening, and spent considerable time deadheading the plants at Autumn Heights Health Care where she lived the last three and a half years.
Gaylene was predeceased by John on September 3, 2014; her parents; step-mother Viola Mohling Garrelts and her mother-in-law Geneva.
She is survived by her son, William (Carol); daughter Anne Marie Noel; granddaughter Ashley (Nate) Harwerth; great-grandchildren Titus, Elle, and Caleb and Ashley’s mom Lisa; step grandson Chris (Nicole); step great-grandchildren Sierra and Seth; sister Norma Andersen; nephew and niece Ryan (Kim) Andersen and Andrea (Chris Dinkins) Andersen; step sisters and brothers Craig Mohling (Joyce), Sandie Belman (Denny), Rod Mohling (Colleen), Becky Quenzer (Jeff); step-nieces and nephews Teri (John) Garvin, Angie (Dan) Wood and Brenda (Keven) Krull; Ryan (Michelle) Mohling and Chad (Jane) Mohling, Jamie (Brock) McElhaney, Dustin (Mandy) Quenzer, and Troy Quenzer; step great nieces and nephews; Garrelts and Gross cousins scattered throughout USA, and her Autumn Heights family.

Pastor Joel Rothe, Officiating. Viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 10:00 AM. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
