George, age 92 of Litteton, CO.
Personal Tribute: • Born June 6, 1925 in St. Joseph, MO & parents are Stepfather, Mr. Maurice K. Sanborn & Mother, Mrs. Marie E. Earixson, both of St. Joseph, MO. • Pops enjoyed traveling with wife, Hazel. Many memorable trips without the kids fighting in the back of the Chevy Kingswood Station Wagon included: - a cruise to Alaska -Hawaiian Island Hopping with a special visit to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial -European Tour of England, Scotland, & Wales • Enjoyed many annual summer family vacations to Disneyland, Disneyworld, Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, Estes Park & Central City , CO; Hannibal,MO/Mark Twain; Wisconsin Dells, and many more. • Happily married for more than 61 years to his beloved wife, Hazel Irene DuPree of St. Joseph, MO on Oct. 27, 1956 • Father of 4 high maintenance children: Lori, Mark, Rick & Steven • Graduated from the University of Kansas School of Engineering • Loved his pet Dogs: Candy, Tammy, Samantha, Buddy, & Duke • Loved NFL Games & the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, & Denver Broncos • Loved his 1965 Baby Blue Chevy Impala, 2-door hardtop that he sold in the early 1970’s Military: • High School ROTC • U.S. Navy – Seaman Second Class, 1943-1944 • U.S. Navy Reserves & the California National Guard Professional: • Professional Engineering Licenses from the State of Missouri on Jan. 18, 1965 & from the State of Kansas on July 29,1965 • Retired after 31 years of Civil Engineering experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Kansas City & Chicago Districts. Area of Expertise: Foundations & Geotechnical Engineering. • Worked on numerous flood control, Navigational, & National Security Projects including: -Intercontinential Ballistic Missile Construction Program at Forbes Air Force Base, Topeka, KS in 1960-1961 - Chicago Deep Water Tunnel Flood Control Project
Dad was a very loving & caring father & very dependable & loving husband who will be deeply missed by his family & many others
