Obituary for Ginger McKibbin
Ginger, 61 of Littleton CO passed away on October 4th 2018 surrounded by her Loving Family. Ginger was born in Spangler, PA on August 27th 1957. She was the youngest of ten siblings to her parents Aline and Mike Pallone.
She grew up with big dreams for her life, attending Penn State University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Broadcasting. In college she met Don Waterbury and after graduation they moved to Colorado where she began her successful 30 year career in Risk Management. Ginger elevated to Director of Risk Management and eventually retired from Western Union in 2011.
In 1983, she became a mother to Lauren, her one and only child. Lauren and Ginger were inseparable from the moment she was born. They were best friends for 34 years, never missing a single day without talking to each other. They loved shopping together, getting their nails done, and sharing life experiences. Just being together brought joy to their lives. For the past two years they lived fifteen minutes from each other and loved being able to get together often. Ginger gained a son when Lauren married Chris in 2008. They have two beautiful boys, Joshua (8) and Charlie (6). Ginger savored the last eight years watching her “G babies” Josh and Charlie grow up and developed a deep and loving relationship with each of them. With retirement, she was able to help care for them from infancy, supporting their working mother Lauren. She cherished her time with them and loved having them for sleepovers and play dates. She was the Best Grammy G ever!
Ginger met the love of her life, Mike McKibbin, in November of 2006. They married in the Colorado Mountains on September 29th 2012. Ginger and Mike traveled the world together, sharing their life of adventure. Music and concerts were an important part of their lives. Mike may have known the title of a song but Ginger knew all the words. They loved having the family over for Holiday Dinners. Ginger’s exquisitely set table was envied by all. Mike was her soul mate and she loved him with every ounce of her heart. She always said she wished she had met him sooner. Mike loved, cared and cherished her and stood beside her through all the challenges in life. In Marriage, Ginger gained four wonderful stepsons. Mike, Matt, Jay and Kevin. Her family continued to grow when Mike married Courtney in 2012 and Matt married Sabrina in 2014. Mike and Courtney have a son, Walker (3 months) and Matt and Sabrina have two sons Kaden (14) and Maxwell (1).
Ginger was beautiful, intelligent and kind. She paid attention to every detail in life and lived to make others happy. She showed incredible strength and courage while fighting metastatic cancer for over thirteen years, never letting it stop her as she continued to live a joyful life. She had a passion for living life to the fullest, spending time with her family and making every moment of every day count. Her legacy lives on in the lives of the people she has touched and she will never be forgotten by those who knew her. The love she had for her family will be carried on in the wonderful memories she created. She truly made our world a better place.
