Obituary for Glenn William Schneider
Glenn William Schneider of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, age 101, passed away on March 30, 2021, and is now in his eternal glory with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glenn was born on the family farm in Bazine, Kansas on December 17, 1919, and graduated from Dighton, Kansas High School in 1937. While there, Glenn met his high school sweetheart, Dory Pelton. They married in 1941 and celebrated 25 years together before Dory’s passing in 1966. Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served on the USS Hilo as a Radioman 2nd Class in the South Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged on his birthday, December 17, 1945. Glenn and Dory settled first in Montana where Glenn worked on the railroad and later moved to Wichita, Kansas where he worked as an electrical planner at Boeing Aircraft Company, and later worked in Wichita at the Post Office. It was here he met his second wife Hazel. They both retired from the Post Office and moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado where they enjoyed photography, mountain trail hikes, an active church life, and a weekly Bible Study. After Hazel passed away, Glenn moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado living in the Windcrest Senior Living Community, being close by to his daughter Linda and her family.
In his spare time Glenn loved being outdoors and working in his flower gardens. He was a kind and loving father and considered himself truly blessed to have two daughters, Kathy and Linda. He was always there for the two girls through their ups and downs, and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met, always greeting them with a natural, ever-present smile that brightened the lives of those around him. We can just see him now, talking to Jesus and smiling that great big smile of his.
Glenn is survived by his daughter Kathy Halbrook and son-in-law Larry, of Weldon Spring, Missouri; daughter Linda Korell and son-in-law Loren of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; granddaughter Kristen (Korell) Washam and husband Chris of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Matt Korell and wife Sarah of Bluff City, Tennessee, and Cindy (Halbrook) Greifzu and husband Scott of Lake St Louis, Missouri; seven great grandchildren; Elizabeth Washam, Abigail, Isaiah, Henry, and Xeny Grace Korell, Sam and Owen Greifzu, and brother DeVerne Schneider of Dodge City, Kansas.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, William Schneider and Katherine (Kleweno) Schneider; brothers Clair Schneider, Cecil Schneider, sister Elda (Schneider) Trombley; wife Dorotha (Pelton) Schneider, and wife Hazel (Knox) Schneider.
Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Glenn managed his congestive heart failure and several battles with skin cancer with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his daughters, who he adored more than anything else in the world, and his family, both in person and on “face-time” chats. Despite his pain and discomfort, Glenn ended life as a hero and stayed strong until the end.
