Iris Parker McGinnies, 90, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, passed away on December 25th, 2017 at the Vi at Highlands Ranch Care Center. She was born on March 11, 1927 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, to Fred and Lela Parker. She married William Joseph McGinnies on July 24th, 1949.
She is survived by her children, Anne McGinnies Myers (Robin) of Parker, Mary Jo McGinnies Pook (Laszlo) of Parker, and William Parker McGinnies (Helen) of Falls Church, Virginia, and four grandchildren, Andrew Myers, Sarah Pook, Emily Pook and Sophie McGinnies. Her husband, William McGinnies and her sister, Freidann Parker, preceded her in death.
Iris received a Bachelor's degree from Colorado State University and a Master's degree from University of Northern Colorado. She taught at Harris Elementary in Fort Collins for 20 years. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and P.E.O., Chapter HB, and served as a Stephen's Minister at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church. Iris loved playing bridge and golf, reading, singing, and enjoyed many trips abroad, but her greatest pleasure was being with family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, Compassion International, or the Freidann and Lillian Legacy Society of Colorado Ballet in Mrs. McGinnies memory.
