Obituary for Janet Clark Gray Kearns
Janet Clark (Gray) Kearns, age 82, entered the rest of the Lord on March 16, 2018. She was born December 14, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Donald and Janet Gray. Janet was the youngest of five children. While a young girl, her family moved to Los Angeles, CA. On January 1, 1957, Grandpa Gray wrote, “Janet is still single, but not for long as she got a diamond on Jan 16 from Keith Kearns.” On June 22, 1957, Keith and Janet were married for eternity in the Los Angeles Temple. They are the parents of seven children, three daughters and four sons. Keith and Janet spent 20 years in the Air Force and were stationed in California, Okinawa, Utah, and Colorado.

Like her parents, Janet had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Her and Keith passed their testimonies and love of the Savior to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Janet gained a love for temple service from her parents and served as a temple ordinance worker in the Denver Temple from 1987 to 2011. Keith passed away last year on April 26, 2017, one month short of their 60th anniversary. They spent the last 40 years at their home on Mineral Place. It was a home built and furnished with love. It was truly a refuge from the world.

Janet’s talents included serving others, teaching children, running home operations for a large and complex family, sewing, and she was a faithful bowling partner at times for Keith. She loved puzzles and maintaining her yard. She loved decorating her home for all holidays, especially Christmas.

Janet and Keith are survived by their children and their spouses, Ken (Joyce) Kearns of Centennial, CO; Ron (Laurie) Kearns of Colorado Springs, CO; Anne (Kevin) Smith of Orem, UT; Kathy (Mark) Van Houten of Provo, UT; Connie (Robert) Davis of Lewisville, TX; David (JoAnne) Kearns of Parker, CO; and Jerry (Jolene) of Belleville, MI; 28 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren (one more arriving very soon).

The family wishes to thank all family, friends, neighbors, and Church members who have shared so much love, kindness, and service to Mom and Dad over the years.
