Obituary for Jim H. Kint
Jimmie Harold Kint was born on April 14, 1928, the fifth of seven children to Walter and Tillie Kint in Belden, Nebraska. Jim faced many struggles that challenged his determination to fulfill his goals. As early as eighth grade he had to forego his education to contribute to the family finances. At the same time, he had to give up on his dreams of education, his family also suffered the losses of their oldest son to World War II and the middle daughter to scarlet fever. A man of lesser character would have assumed that the world had it against him, but not Jim. He secured a position at the Nebraska Highway Department, a job he desired to acquire when school was no longer a luxury his family could afford. After the hardships of his teen years, Jim met the love of his life, Miss Lila Mae Leonard, to whom he proposed to only after three short days; their only disagreement, Lila believed it was four days. They were married February 25, 1951, in Sargents, Colorado and moved to Littleton where they began the project of building their own home and raising a family in the Deer Creek area, residing there for over 53 years. Jim had a long career at Norgrens Pneumatic Factory and after 39 years with the company he was able to retire and spend his leisure time doing the two things he enjoyed the most, fishing and hunting. Jim also was a volunteer fireman for the Inter-Canyon Fire and Rescue for several years. Jim and Lila shared over 55 years of marriage together until Lila's death on June 23, 2006. Following her passing Jim lived at the Gardens at Columbine in Littleton until health care problems placed him into Orchard Park Care Center this past January. In his elderly age, his body began to fail him. With the ever growing Parkinson's disease, his body became harder to control, but never once did he complain. He always put the needs of others before his own, a trait that his grandson values highly and he tries to emulate in his own personal life. On Saturday morning, June 16, 2012, Jim left this world a much better place and is now together once again with the love of his life, Lila. He is survived by his children Jim (Cindy) Kint of Sargents, John (Shirley) Kint of Guffey and Kathy (Ken) Mergl of Littleton; grandchildren Jeni, Janet, Megan and Sean; great grandchildren Chance and Kaylie and a sister Virginia 'Tiny' Burns of Laurel, Nebraska as well as a host of numerous family and friends.
