Joan E. (Shaughnessy) Durbin, of Monument, CO., passed away with her family by her side on December 15, 2020, at the age of 77.
Joan will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Paul, two daughters Deborah Cannon (Scott) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Darcy Rook (Jared) of Sanibel, Florida; two adopted sons Bob of Massachusetts, Sean of California; two sisters, Mary Marquis (Don) of Massachusetts, Ann Martin (Peter) of Massachusetts; two brothers, Bill Shaughnessy (Lynn) of Arizona, Dan Shaughnessy (Marilou) of Massachusetts, nine grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, William and Eileen; and infant son David.
Born in Hanover, New Hampshire, Joan grew up in Groton, Massachusetts. She realized her lifelong dream when she received her nursing degree. The family moved to Monument, CO in 1982 where Joan worked private nursing, she enjoyed giving her clients her devoted attention, and personal care. Joan continued her passion for caring for people by implementing the Health & Healing Ministry for St. Peter’s. Joan loved to travel especially to Ireland and Hawaii, as well as supporting her favorite softball player in his multi state tournaments. Joan was always known for her smile, it just put you at ease and her laugh was contagious. Joan loved people, being around family and friends, just talking.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 Jefferson St. Monument, CO 80132.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Brookdale Hospice Colorado Springs or St. Peter Catholic School in Joan’s memory.
