Obituary for Joan F, Lennon
Joan Florence Lennon was born in Green Bay, WI on January 30, 1935 and passed away in her Littleton, CO home on July 30, 2019 at age 84. She was the only child to Joseph Nicholas Bielinski and Florence Evangeline (Johnsen) Bielinski. She attended grade schools in Denmark, Wi and Green Bay, graduating from Green Bay East High School in 1952. She attended St. Norbert College in DePere, WI for one year, then moved on to Marquette University in Milwaukee where she met her future husband the night prior to her first class at Marquette. She graduated from Marquette in 1956 with a Bachelor Degree in Speech Correction. She worked in the Fond du Lac, WI school system as a Speech Correction Specialist for one year, then married Robert (Bob) J. Lennon, a Marquette School of Engineering graduate, on July 6, 1957 at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church in Green Bay. She then moved to Denver, CO as a newlywed and once again conducted Speech Correction classes in a number of elementary schools in the Aurora, CO school system.
Joan and Bob began to build their family, raising four loving and wonderful children, Jane Marie Bartels (Richard), Jean Marie Show, John Joseph (Devra Hicks) and James Robert (Gretchen Limback). This family grew to ten grandchildren, Amy Rebecca Wallin (Kyle), Kimberly Ann Branting (Jeremy), Tyson John Show, Jaysa Marie Show, Alessa Rae Lennon, Jared Nicholas Lennon, Rachel Christine Lennon, Corinna Nicole Lennon-Fisher(Fred), Kayla Brianne Lennon and Savannah Rae Lennon; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Oak Lennon-Fisher and Elloise Jane Wallin.
Once the home became an “empty nest,” Joan attended the Denver Archdiocese “Catholic Biblical School,” graduating in 1991 followed by a two-year Foundation Program that trained her to conduct biblical classes at St. Mary Catholic Church for a period of over 25 years. Joan also obtained a Master’s Degree in Special Education in 1982 from the U. of Northern Colorado.
Joan will be greatly missed by her family and a multitude of friends and relatives (49 first cousins). She loved to play bridge, having belonged to at least five bridge clubs, square danced a number of years, traveled to various locations in Israel, Egypt (her favorite place to visit), Europe and Canada where she met many interesting people. She also traveled to many sites throughout the United States with three other couples – many priceless memories have been cultivated and nurtured over the years.
Joan’s most favorite thing to do was spending time with her family. However, she will always be remembered for her smile, her positive attitude and her fun-loving personality. Joan remained faithful to her Green Bay Packer allegiance, but also loved the Denver Broncos. She was an avid football fan.
