Obituary for Joan Louise Mason
Joan Louise (Irwin) Mason passed away peacefully on August 9, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was 80 years old.
Joan was born in Englewood in 1938 and graduated from Englewood High School. She lived all of her life in the Denver area and loved spending time in the Colorado mountains. She was an avid hiker, tennis player and skier; had a deep passion for classical music; and traveled throughout the world for both work and pleasure.
Most of all, Joan loved spending time with her family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Mark Mason and is survived by sister Barbara Roberts, brother Bill Irwin, daughter Susan Morrisey and son Jeffrey Mason; five grandchildren including Julia Regalado, Ryan Morrisey, Clara Morrisey, Adriane Mason and Oliver Mason; six nieces and nephews including Kirk Roberts, Gene Roberts, Kim Hsin, Elle Irwin, Will Irwin and Ema Irwin; and two great-grandsons, Harlom and Noah Regalado. She routinely told them all that she loved them to pieces.
Joan will be remembered for her joyful, optimistic personality and her care for others. She spent her professional career as a certified fundraising executive, training and supporting nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado, the nation and the world to raise money to support their missions.
