Obituary for Joane Elaine Thain
Joane Elaine Thain was born on February 7th, 1944 in Denver, Colorado and passed away suddenly on October 30th, 2017 in Salina, Kansas. Joane grew up and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1962. While on a fan trip with her dad, she met Robert Thain on the famous Silverton Train running between Alamosa and Durango Colorado. They were married on August 4th, 1968. During their marriage they traveled the world going to China, Russia, Cuba, New Zealand and The Panama Canal. They would have celebrated the 50th Wedding Anniversary in August.
Joane was a school bus driver for Strasburg School District for 20ish years and during her spare time she would make many birthday and wedding cakes for local families. She also drove a Senior Citizen van until she retired in 2004.
Joane was mom to many and mother to two children Jeff (Susan) and Katy (Jr.) Hickson. Grandmother to five beautiful granddaughters Kayla (23) (Devon) Hicks, Emily Thain (17), Jerzey Hickson (17), Madison Thain (14), and Kenade Hickson (12). She also had one great grandson Holden Hicks (6 weeks old).
She was loved so much by her family and will be missed terribly but know that she is with us in our hearts.
Preceding her in death where her parents Mattie (Craighead) Uhrich and Virgil Uhrich. She is survived by her brother Marlin (Connie) Uhrich. Nieces and nephew, Bonnie (Ben) Hill, Heather (Andy) Jansky, Dawn (Jason) Richardson, and James (Elizabeth) Uhrich and 11 great nieces and nephews.
