Obituary for Joyce Elaine Hunter
Joyce Elaine Hunter, age 74 of Littleton, went to be with Jesus on February 25, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Joyce grew up in Salina, Kansas. She married at the age of 22, and committed herself to raising her four children. In addition to raising her four kids, she managed to cook, clean, shop, and carry a part time job, while never neglecting her quiet time with Christ. Oh yeah...she also ran four miles several times a week. Once her kids were older, Joyce took a job teaching at Normandy Elementary School where she developed lasting and deep friendships. It is difficult to find a person that met Joyce that walked away with anything but a positive impression. Through a series of amazing and serendipitous events Joyce met, fell in love with, and married the father of one of her students. Joyce and Jim Hunter were married twenty-five years. They enjoyed traveling together and spending lots of time with their beloved children and grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Alma Haney. She is survived by her husband Jim, two brothers Everett and Jack Haney, her four children and their spouses Jon (Julie) Burns, Laurie (Tom) Tonelli, Tom (Holly) Burns, and Brian (Kourtney) Burns, two step-children Drew (Loren) and KaCee Hunter, and16 grandchildren.
Joyce will be dearly missed. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and child of God. She always shared the love of Christ, rarely finding it necessary to use words.
