Obituary for Juliana Phelps Speth

Julie, age 70 of Monument, was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Mario and Dorothy “Dottie” (nee Phelps) Columbo.

Julie’s vibrant memory lives on in her former husband and friend Rick Speth; daughter Patti Morgan (Speth) and son-in-law Joe Morgan; sons Jeff Speth and daughter-in-law Suzie Speth and Ricky Speth and daughter-in-law Stephanie; her special grandchildren Lauren ‘Haley’ Morgan, Sophia Speth, and Caleb Speth; sister Vicki Castiaux and brother-in-law- Bob Castiaux; sisters-in-law Mary Colombo and Donna Colombo and sisters-in-law Carolyn Helmbacher (Speth) and Betty Menges (Speth). Julie is also survived by dear family members “Second Mama” to niece, Susan Hoskins, “Second Grandma” to Alicia and Brock Robbins with so many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, Uncle Jim, and life-long childhood friends, Grace Schupp and Linda Parrott, and many cherished new-found friends. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Mario, mother Dorothy "Dottie", and her brother Michael Colombo who she’s with in Heaven.

Julie was very sick these past three months and suffered with congestive heart failure, a massive stroke, COPD/Emphysema, and fibrosis of the lungs. In and out of the hospital four times in two months, she was like the Energizer Bunny, she just kept going. She miraculously recovered from her massive stroke, but her heart just couldn’t pump hard enough to keep the fluid out of her lungs. Those who knew her would say she was a very strong, very loving, giving, kind and compassionate woman. She was a fighter, working as a LPN Nurse and praying up until the very end.

She was a very humble and deeply faith-filled woman and died peacefully in her daughter’s home on Sunday evening (June 16, 2019) on the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity after receiving the last Rights from long-time priest friend, Father Larry Brennan. From a very young age, her FAMILY, and later, praying for family unity, was the most important thing to her.

We are overjoyed that she is now in Heaven being embraced by Jesus’ infinite love and mercy where she can finally rest in peace.

We would be honored if you could join us as we welcome her into New Life with Christ.
