Obituary for June Louise Claus
Claus, June L., peacefully passed away December 21, 2011 at the age of 93. June was born June Louise Ball on June 16, 1918, a true Native of Colorado. Raised in what was then the prairie of Denver, 32nd and Colorado Blvd., she grew up around the Depot as her father was a railroad man. June graduated from Manuel High School in 1936 and worked for Mountain States Telegraph and Telephone for nearly 20 years. On February 15, 1951, June married the love of her life, Harvey A. Claus. They traveled much of the country together as Harvey too worked for the railroad. They were blessed with a son, Steve, in 1956. Harvey died in a train accident on their 25th wedding anniversary. While raising Steve, June worked part time for the Colorado Women's College, Denver Public Schools and the Holiday Inn. June was a proud member of the Lionesses Club. She spent 23 years as a Volunteer for Aurora Presbyterian Hospital. She was baptized and became a member of the Aurora 1st Presbyterian Church in March 1984. June enjoyed many seasons with The Caring Center, making cross stitch gifts for the shut-ins in her community. June's dream of travel and love of Hawaii began at the age of 12 when she first heard the radio program 'Hawaii Calls'. After Harvey was gone she and Steve realized her dream that began the first of 6 trips to the Golden Isles. June is survived by her beloved son Stephen H. Claus, granddaughter Ali Tennant-Claus and niece Theresa McNulty-Jung.
