Obituary for Karen Joyce Stiegler
Karen Joyce Stiegler, 65, of Littleton, CO passed away March 13, 2016 as her family was by her side. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m., July 16th at Glenwood Lake Park, Museum Pavilion, Glenwood, IA. Karen wanted a casual setting where her family and friends could come to share all the laughter, fun, memories, milestones and relationships we were so blessed with throughout her life.
Karen was born in Council Bluffs, IA, November 10, 1950 to Richard and Lois (March) Shepard of Malvern, IA. She was only 9 when we left the farm but that is where we had some of the best years of our lives. She graduated from Longmont High School, in Longmont, Colorado then joined IBM where she retired after 36 years. She was very proud of her career with IBM and was rewarded / acknowledged many times for her contributions and teamwork. She was known for her commitment to her work and compassion for her colleagues. After retiring in 2007, she spent time in Gilbert, AZ before returning to CO in 2012.
Karen has been reunited with her parents, both sets of grandparents and her niece; along with her beautiful furry family members. Left to carry on her spirit is her daughter Hollie Stiegler of Colorado; brother Gary Shepard and wife Pat of Glenwood; sister Linda Osborne of Gilbert, AZ; aunts, nephews, nieces; many cousins and friends. She was the “connector” in our family and we will all miss that very much.
Karen will be remembered as a woman that was beautiful, funny, loving, yet quiet, and compassionate.
While Karen loved her roses dearly, her preference, should you choose to remember her, is that you donate to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or The Humane Society.
