Obituary for Kristin Kimberly Smith Meyer
Kristin, age 44 of Littleton, Colorado.
A close friend of Kristin said she was “Never afraid to fully love others—whether she got hurt or not.” That is Kristin. She embodies love of others. She loved openly, without judgment, honestly, freely and fully. Her lifelong friendships are without hierarchy. She loved all her friends completely. Her friends are all her best friends.
Kristin was born in San Jose, California in 1977. She moved to Salem, Oregon with her parents, John and Marsha Smith and her brother Scott “best brother ever” in 1979. Friends made in preschool, elementary, middle and high school have remained close her entire life. She did her undergraduate work at Linfield College. She then moved to Denver, Colorado and received her MSW from University of Denver.
She interned with and then joined the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, serving in multiple capacities at the Information Resource Center in Denver.
She met, fell in love with and married her life mate James Meyer. Together they created their three amazing daughters: Emily, Sidney and Caitlin.
Kristin fought fiercely to stay with her girls and her family but melanoma took her body the evening of May 4, 2021. She was surrounded and held by her family and friends.
Finally freed from disease her spirit is free and soaring. The people she so loved are now wrapping her family in that same love. Kristin taught many of us what it truly means to love your neighbor. We are better people and the world is a better place because Kristin was here and present in our lives.
