Obituary for LaVerna Marie Becker
LaVerna, age 77 at Lakewood, Colorado.
It is with great sadness that the family of LaVerna Becker announce her passing. LaVerna lived a long and happy life. She was born December 23rd, 1939 and passed away in September 10th, 2017 from a long battle with Alzhiemers.
We had a great mom. She took great pride in helping others her entire life. Mom worked as a RN and in the medical field her entire life and still found time to make sure dinner was on the table every evening for her family. She had many gifts, the one we will miss the most was her cooking. It still amazes us today how she could throw together a book full of recipes from her head. Her recipes for making pickles, pasties, chili and her jalapeno jelly live on in our daily lives. We look back in amazement at all the talents she had. We still use her macrame plant hangers and cook our meals using her pottery creations. She always made sure that her children and grandchildren had elaborate Halloween costumes sewn by hand. Some of her favorite times were spent in Butte, Montana. Late nights with her brother and sister in law around the pinochle table were her favorite. She was fond of her stories about growing up with Evel Knievel and loved camping along the Madison River. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, daughter and wife. We will never forget her and are proud of all that she taught us.
LaVerna is survived by her brother Grant Lundell and family, her sister Marlene Byrne and family, her children Eric Becker, Shauna Hock and three beautiful granddaughters.
A celebration of life will be held on July 28th, 2018 along the banks of the Madison River near Ennis, MT.
