Obituary for LeOra Hope Richards
LeOra Hope Richards of Commerce City was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho and was raised in Rigby, Idaho where she graduated from Rigby High School. She was married in Rigby in 1942 to Ralph J. Richards.
LeOra was preceded in death by her husband Ralph J. Richards; father Earnest Arthur Bates; mother Mary Louise Musgrave Bates; sons Vaughn L. and Kent J. Richards; grandchildren Rene Lynn and Vaughn Lee Richards-Jones; brothers Earnest and DLynn Bates; sisters Erna Thornock, Ina Youngstram, Theola Haight, and Dorothy Galbraith.
She is survived by her sisters Katherine Dabell of Boise, Idaho, Ann Bates of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Karen Bates of Idaho Falls, Idaho, daughter-in law Betty Richards of Littleton, grandson Brad Richards, beloved great-granddaughter Kylie Richards along with other great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren in Michigan and Texas.
LeOra was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was active in social events, wellness classes and volunteer service at the Commerce City Senior Recreation Center. Also active in the Commerce City Historical Society and Museum.
She loved to travel including several trips to Alaska with her sister Katherine; vacations with Vaughn, Betty, and Kylie to southern California twice and to Las Vegas and many camping vacations in the family RV. She also took a 28 day tour with Katherine through the northeast United States and a vacation with Kent which included a cruise through the Panama Canal.
A Celebration of LeOra’s life will be held Sunday, February 11th, at 1:00 P.M. at the VFW Post 4444, located at 7100 Fairfax Drive in Commerce City. A luncheon will be provided by the Post and the Ladies Auxillary.
