Obituary for Lee Brian Van Ramshorst
Van Ramshorst, Lee, passed away at Porter Hospice December 12, 2012 after battling Multiple Myeloma for several years. He was born May 21, 1939, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Jacob and Alice (Smith) Van Ramshorst. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Bangs) Van Ramshorst, of Lone Tree, Colorado. Two children, Scott Van Ramshorst and wife Nancy of Castle Rock and their three children Hunter, Aspen and Bianca. Daughter Sabrina (Van Ramshorst) Espinoza and husband Leo of Houston, Texas and their three children Brianna, Sophia and Zaden. A sister, Gayle Stees of Wolcottville, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leonard J. Van Ramshorst of Wellsville, New York. Lee received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Missouri School of Mines at Rolla and his Masters in Management Science from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth Texas. He worked in the oil and gas industry for more than 30 years retiring from Plains Petroleum Corporation as Senior Vice President of Business Development. Lee served on the Park Meadows Metropolitan District in Lone Tree, Colorado for nearly 10 years, established the Lone Tree Photography Club, Lone Tree Hiking Club and was President of The Charter HOA in Lone Tree for several years. He also volunteered in various capacities for The Colorado Trail Foundation. He volunteered for Douglas County Open Space until his health no longer allowed him to participate, he was an avid photographer and hiker and he enjoyed skiing and traveling, especially in his beloved mountains. Lee was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
