It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Kay Clark. Linda passed away on Saturday, November 5th, 2022, at the age of 65.
Linda lived life to the fullest and truly understood the meaning of love and family. Linda was born to Richard and Norma Eckles in 1957. She grew up in Idaho Springs, Colorado with her parents and brother, Loren “Biff” Eckles. Linda graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1975. Shortly after graduation, she began working her dream job at the Colorado State Patrol. The Colorado State Patrol brought her to the love of her life, Darrell, and they were married in February of 1983. They had two daughters, Michaela Kay (1988) and Katie Marie (1991). They raised their girls in Dillon, Colorado. After Darrell’s passing in 1997, Linda and the girls moved to Broomfield, Colorado in 2003.
Linda loved law enforcement and was the definition of bleeding blue. She retired with 38 years of service with the Colorado State Patrol. Soon after retirement she began working part time for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office where she was a valued member of the civil team.
Linda loved quilting and crafting! She spent much of her free time with her daughters teaching them to quilt and had made several quilts for friends and family. Linda also enjoyed cross stitching, scrapbooking, and card making. Michaela and Katie will have many fond memories of their time spent crafting together.
Linda was an incredibly strong woman who conquered any challenge she was faced with. After Darrell’s passing, she raised her girls as a single parent to be strong, independent women. The three became such a close-knit family, and a force to be reckoned with. She will be remembered fondly and missed by many.
Linda is survived by her two daughters, Michaela Doren (Kory) and grandson Jackson of Frederick, and Katie Potempa (Josh) of Littleton, brother Loren “Biff” Eckles of Idaho Springs, and sister-in-law Patricia Clark of Montrose. She is preceded in death by her husband Darrell Clark, parents Richard and Norma Eckles, brother-in-law Chancy Clark, and in-laws Verlyn and Gloria Clark.
Condolences may be sent to Linda’s family in care of Michaela Doren, Frederick, CO 80530.
Linda’s daughters hope to establish a scholarship in Linda’s honor with the CSP Family Foundation Scholarship Fund. The Foundation awards scholarship funds to assist continuing education to members of the CSP Association, their dependents, and their spouses.
