Loren Gene Korell of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, went home to be with Jesus on September 16, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born on February 19, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas, the eldest of two sons of Loren and Anita Jeane Korell. By the age of 13 he had worked hard to earn his Eagle Scout Award, the youngest person in the State of Kansas to receive this distinction. From a young age, Loren hunted on the family farm in Alva, Oklahoma and went on to win awards for his marksmanship. He enjoyed and excelled in the sport of baseball, especially as a pitcher, and could be found on the field most of his childhood and into his college career. Loren excelled in many sports including football, bowling, archery, basketball, and a Bronco fan to name a few. He graduated from Wichita State University and went on to serve in the Kansas Air National Guard.
Loren noticed Linda at a local restaurant in Wichita one fall night and soon asked for her hand in marriage. They spent the next 52 years together in marital bliss. In his early career he held management positions at JC Penny’s and Shepler’s. He went on to be an entrepreneur, and has spent the past 20 years running his own business, Heavenly Seating.
God was central in his life and he shared that love by leading a home bible study once a week with Linda for over 30 years. His love for the Lord was heard in many congregations across the country when he shared his gift of song. He was an elder at Southeast Christian Church, a children’s choir volunteer, sang in the choir, and served in many capacities when needed. Loren spent his life caring for and loving his family deeply. He was always an encourager to his family and supported them in all of their activities.
Loren was cherished by his father-in-Law, Glenn Schneider; his Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, Kathy and Larry Halbrook; his niece Cindy and her family -husband Scott, grandnephews-Sam, Owen, and Elijah; and all of his many friends across the nation
Loren is survived by his wife Linda Korell, (nee Schneider) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; daughter Kristen (Chris) Washam of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; son Dr. Matthew (Sarah) Korell of Bristol, Tennessee and five grandchildren, Elizabeth Washam, and Abigail, Isaiah, Henry, and Xeny Grace Korell.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents Loren and Anita Jeane (nee Hannon) Korell and brother Steven Korell.
