Obituary for Luke W. Richards
Luke was born to Lars and Melonie Richards of Littleton, Colorado and was a younger brother to Rae Richards.
Luke means “Bringer of Light”. He brought light and great joy to all those who met him.
He loved climbing, skiing and exploring outdoors. He recently qualified for the state climbing competition as a freshman and did very well. He ran cross country and competed in the state competition last fall. He had recently learned how to do a standing back flip and a bar muscle up. Luke loved exercising and going to the climbing gym. He had made great progress in his training and was getting stronger each day.
Luke participated in Civil Air Patrol where he served as the 1st sergeant for the Dakota Ridge Composite Squadron. He achieved the rank of cadet technical sergeant in his first year. He hoped to attend the Air Force Academy after high school. He wanted to learn how to fly planes.
Luke attended Front Range Christian School starting as a kindergartner, and was currently in 9th grade. He had a 4.21 GPA and loved learning. He strove for perfection in everything he did.
Luke was a young man of good character and integrity. He was respectful, honest, and helpful. Luke was kind, compassionate and a good listener. He would often take things very literally and make a clever joke or a play on words. At times, Luke was mischievous and he liked to make people laugh. He enjoyed drawing, tinkering around on the piano, and playing pranks on his sister. He had lots of fun while gaming online with his friends. He loved his dog Piper and played with her frequently.
Luke will forever be in our hearts and our memories. We love you Luke and miss you every day.
He leaves behind a multitude of people who loved him dearly including his parents, Melonie and Lars Richards. His sister, Rae who was very close to him. Luke is survived by his grandparents, Bill and Jan Strickland. Luke’s uncles, aunts and cousins include: Jason, Stephanie, Hannah, Molly and Oliver Strickland. On his father’s side of the family: Jim and Lisa Richards, Ben their son who preceded him in death, Cindi and Circ Toepel, JT Toepel, Kari, Harlan and Mazy Hansen, David and Gloria Richards, Tim, Tori and Julia Richards.
