Obituary for Marcia Lynn Birk
Marcia Lynn Birk, 65, passed away quietly and peacefully on January 12, 2022, in Lone Tree, CO. Marcia was born in 1956 to Elsie (DeWit) Loftis and Carl DeWit. Born and raised in Denver, Marcia lived nearly her whole life in Colorado. In 1985 she married her favorite person and love of her life, Robert Birk. Together, they had one beloved daughter, Ashley.
In her younger years, she was a medical assistant for Kaiser Permanente. During her time with Kaiser, she loved helping her patients (especially the elderly) and the people with whom she worked. After the birth of her daughter, she chose to devote substantial time and energy to her family, and she volunteered often at her daughter’s school.
Despite living with and fighting against a relentlessly progressive disease for decades, Marcia had an adventuresome spirit, and she loved to travel. While she was still able, she planned numerous family vacations throughout the United States and Canada. She particularly enjoyed her travels to Victoria, where she visited Butchart Gardens several times, and Quebec (Canada), and domestic trips to California, Arizona, South Carolina, and New England. She had an appreciation for beauty, and throughout her life she enjoyed flowers and gardening, arts/crafts, and scenic drives into the mountains to see the fall colors. She also had a fondness for dogs, particularly her dogs Sadie and Molly.
Marcia will be remembered as a giving, encouraging, supportive and charitable person; a kind, gentle, and caring soul; and a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Marcia is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 36 years, Bob; her daughter Ashley; her sister Cherelyn (sons Justin and Tobin); and her brother Mark (daughters Raneece and Rikki).
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National MS Society, Colorado-Wyoming Chapter, 900 S. Broadway, Suite 250, Denver, CO 80209
