Margareteva R. Berggren Lowe
Margareteva, 99 died October 30, 2018 at Porter Hospice in Denver, Colorado. She was born March 24, 1919, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter Scott Simmons and Bertha Anna Helm Simmons.
Having grown up on her parents beautiful farm east of town, Margareteva always enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, sketching, oil painting, and farm life.
Margareteva attended Ponca City Senior High School in Ponca City, Oklahoma. For college, she attended Central College in McPherson, Kansas and Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois where she graduated with her BA in Education.
During her time at Greenville College she met Vern W. Berggren who she later married. The couple lived in Illinois and Ohio before moving back to her hometown in Ponca City, Oklahoma. There they raised their three children.
With her degree, Margareteva taught preschool thru high school aged students. While living in Ponca City, she established a preschool with her mother in The First Church of God on West Grand Ave.
After the passing of her husband Vern, she married Ira R. Lowe. They then moved to Desoto, Texas. After the passing of Ira, Margareteva she spent several years in Pennsylvania living with her daughter Beth and family. She then moved to Carthage, Texas to be near her son Vern, and also became a long time member of Southside Baptist Church. Late in life, she moved to Parker, Colorado to be near her daughter Darla.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Margareteva was predeceased by her sister Melva Mohnkern.
Margareteva is survived by her 3 children, Darla (Berggren) Hamilton of Parker, Colorado, Vern Berggren of Carthage, Texas and Beth (Berggren) Crow of Meadville, Pennsylvania; niece, Susanne Mohnkern of Rochester, New York; nephew, Scott Mohnkern (Jill) of Greenville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Chelsea Hamilton, Alyssa Hamilton, Hayden Crow (Lauren), Hayley Crow, Maverick Crow, Haley Berggren, and James Berggren.
A service of remembrance will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Longwood Cemetery, Ponca City, Oklahoma.
