Obituary for Marilyn H. Van Den Bos
Van Den Bos, Marilyn H., 78, of Littleton, passed from this life on January 31, 2013. Lynn was born on March 2, 1934, in Rockford, Illinois to Edward Louis and Ethyl Halverson. A bit of a bookworm, she did very well in school and went on to attend Augustana College where she majored in physics and biology. After graduating, she managed to talk herself onto an archeology dig (for archeology graduate students) at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado where she discovered and fell in love with the state of Colorado. She moved to Denver and got a job working as the office administrator in a physician’s office. She met Merle Van Den Bos, her future husband, at a singles group for tall people (not kidding). They married, moved to Littleton, Colorado, and eventually had two kids – Jill and Hank (also tall). Lynn pursued many hobbies, including skiing, painting, singing, swimming, sewing, traveling, etc, etc. She always said “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing badly,” hence all the dabbling. More recently, she spent a lot of time with her grandkids Katherine, Kyle, and Bethany. They remain amazed and jealous of the many fabulous funny faces she could make. She is survived by daughter Jill Van Den Bos and her husband Stephen King of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and son Henry and his wife Teena Van Den Bos of Olympia, Washington; grandchildren Bethany and Kyle King and Katherine Van Den Bos and her brother Richard Halverson. Preceded in death by her husband Merle Van Den Bos on July 26, 2010 and her parents Edward Louis and Ethyl Halverson.
Cemetery: Graveside Service for both Merle and Lynn, 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, February 6, 2013, staging area “A”.
