Obituary for Mary Louise Mulderrig
Mary Louise "Lou Lou", age 54 of Littleton.

Mary Louise Mulderrig was born in Wantagh, New York on August 14th,1964 as the sixth of nine children. She was baptized at St. Francis de Chantel, also in in Wantagh. Initially, she was the closest of all of her sibling to her parents, Bettianne and Jack Mulderrig, as she slept in the top drawer of their bedroom dresser. After the family moved to Huntington, NY she was upgraded to a bed, attended St. Patrick’s Catholic grammar school, and made her first group of lifelong friends.

She started her high school years at Cold Spring Harbor, but missed her friends and saved her babysitting money so she could transfer to Holy Family Catholic High School.

Desiring a quiet, scholarly environment to pursue her studies, she went to Sophie Newcomb College, now known as Tulane, in the heart of New Orleans and acquired her second group of lifelong friends. She spent a year abroad in Madrid, where she became fluent in Spanish and an unwilling participant in a handful of car accidents with her brother Ed.

After college, conquering Europe with her siblings, and a short stint working in Manhattan and Washington D.C., she and her sister Rosey gathered their pennies, popped several pounds of popcorn, obtained a driveaway delivery car, and decamped to Aspen, Colorado. They initially planned a six-week stay in Aspen, this turned into a total of five years.

In Aspen, they skied daily, worked on Aspen Mountain, and wrote/performed with a comedy troupe doing sold out shows at the Wheeler Opera House. Eventually, Lou Lou and Rosey met guys who convinced them to marry and left the good life.

Lou Lou married Chris Boyd in 1996, moved to Ken Caryl in Littleton, Colorado and were blessed with three children, Olivia, Malcolm and Lillian. Chris will tell you that Lou Lou was the voice of reason at home for the entire family. Here she acquired her third group of lifelong friends.

Over the years in Denver, she owned a Deli with her brother Mike, worked in the book publishing industry, and then studied for and acquired her Real Estate license.

Throughout her life she was always an active and talented athlete. She learned to play tennis in her childhood and passed it on to Olivia. She played football with her brothers and passed that on to Malcolm. She mountain-biked with Chris and passed that onto Lillian. The suburban women’s tennis league was taken by storm through her competitiveness and take-no-prisoners attitude.

Lou Lou was assaulted by heath challenges, but bounced back from a stroke at age 27 and defeated HELLP syndrome at age 35. At age 42 she went bionic with a hip replacement. She rose above her maladies through 5 am yoga, 5:30 am bike rides, and a couple of glasses of red wine per day.

Lou Lou’s light-heartedness made even the most mundane situations fun. She had a positive energy and enough hair to transcend every aspect of her life. She passed away on May 2nd; her genuine, interesting, and tough nature was felt to its fullest impact and we hope that everyone will take a part of her with them.

She is survived by her husband Chris; children Olivia, Malcolm and Lillian; mother Bettianne; siblings John, Mary Beth, Michael, Edward, Kevin, Rosemary, Patrick, and Matthew; 25 nieces and nephews and Chris’ parents and sister. Preceded in death by her father, John "Jack" B. Mulderrig.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to be made to an Educational Fund for Mary Louise's children, please make your check payable to Chris Boyd and mail to Ellis Family Services, Attn: Mary Louise Mulderrig Family, P.O. Box 270334, Littleton, CO 80127 or donations can be left at the Funeral Mass. Thank you
