Obituary for Melba Jean Martinet
Melba Jean Martinet, 81, a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend went to be with the Lord Sept 15, 2021.
Melba was born on April 11, 1940. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Joseph Martinet, children Traci (Rick) Dillard, Trent (Niki) Martinet, grandchildren Brian (Nikki) Barbera, Brianna (Tom) Keller, Dr. Michaela Barbera (Shawn Gregory), Dalton Dillard, Noble and Niko Martinet, great-grandson Lindon Keller, Brothers-in-law Anthony Martinet, Ken & (Sally) Martinet, and Joey Antista. Melba is also survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Special Friends Joan Musso and Tammie Medina. She is preceded in death by her parents Lindo Cartelli, Agnes (Perko) Cartelli and her sister Linda Antista.
Melba was born and raised in Trinidad, CO where she graduated from Trinidad Catholic High School. She then went on to the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) where she received her BA degree in Elementary Education. After graduation from UNC she started her teaching career at Pueblo City Schools where she spent 30 years making a difference in many children’s lives and forming lifelong friendships with her colleagues.
Since her family was the most important thing in her life, there was nothing she loved more than spending time with them at their various activities, as well as, celebrating all their accomplishments. One of her favorite things was Mickey Mouse and vacationing at Disney theme parks. She loved to shop and could be found often at the mall.
Services for Melba will be held Oct. 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Our Light of the World Catholic Church, 10306 W Bowles Ave, Littleton, CO 80127. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after at Dancing Willows Clubhouse,11893 West Long Circle, Littleton, CO. In lieu of food and flowers donations can be made in Melba’s honor to St Judes Hospital (stjudes.org) or Denver Hospice (thedenverhospice.org).
