Obituary for Michael DeMoro
Michael, known as Mike, was born in Denver, Colorado to a large Italian family. He was the youngest son and the last surviving sibling of 10 children. He lived his entire life in the greater metro Denver area.
In 1950, he married JoAnn Hamilton and they celebrated 71 years of marriage this past July.
In addition to JoAnn, he is survived by his daughter Debra and son-in-law Mark, his son Doug and daughter-in-law Collette, granddaughters Kate (John), Hannah (Matt), Amy (Brandon) and Katie (Maia). He leaves 6 great grandchildren, and one to be born in January 2022, as well as several special nieces and nephews.
Mike’s “happy place” was the Colorado mountains. He owned a home in Silverthorne for 32 years. It was there he was most comfortable hiking, tending to the forest, or chopping wood. Other hobbies he enjoyed include painting and gardening.
He and JoAnn traveled throughout much of Europe but Italy was his favorite place. He always enjoyed a trip to California to see his son and daughter-in-law where he would walk the beach and work in their garden.
Mike was a gentle soul and family always came first. He was right there when anyone needed help with anything from digging post holes for a new fence to moving his granddaughters into their college dorms. No task too great or small for him to get involved.
His sense of humor kept us laughing and those stories will be told again and again in the years to come.
